Opening odds for Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich

What should be the most-watched match in Bundesliga history is eight days away, but we have betting lines for it already

It will likely be the most-watched and bet on sporting event on the planet that isn’t a World Cup Final. It could dwarf the Super Bowl in terms of viewership and betting handle. And it’s only eight days away.

When Bayern Munich takes on Borussia Dortmund next Tuesday, March 26th at 12:30 p.m. ET, most of the non-American sporting world will stop to watch it. That’s due to a combination of the Covid-19 pandemic that’s forced the planet into their homes, and the stakes of the match which couldn’t possibly be higher.

Bayern has won seven-straight Bundesliga titles, but are only four points clear of Dortmund, who have finished in second four times during this dynastic run. Normally the match would have The Yellow Wall supporting BVB, perhaps the greatest fan terrace in all of soccer, but with the stands empty we will be able to hear every word spoken during what should be a tremendous match.

Even though both teams have a road match to play before they face each other, with Dortmund taking on Wolfsburg and Munich heading to Frankfurt, DraftKings Sportsbook has lines for the match of the season already. Dortmund striker Jadon Sancho didn’t play in Dortmund’s first post-pandemic win against eternal rivals FC Schalke, but the 4-0 victory showed Dortmund to be in fine form. Meanwhile Bayern looked rather pedestrian in a 2-0 victory at Union Berlin, lacking some of the creative flair and pressing for which Der FCB are famous.
