The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams will face off in a Madden sim Thursday at 10:00 p.m. ET. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest that will be played in the snow. You can set your lineup and play in the DraftKings contest before kickoff.
James White ($11,400)
it’s just James White’s Madden simulation world and we’re all just living in it. White has been nothing less than spectacular in his past three sims, combining for 344 yards on the ground and another 76 through the air for a total of 76 fantasy points in that stretch. That’s just a hair over 25 fantasy points per game. In all three of those games, the Pats have scored 31 points. If the scoring continues, it’s safe to assume White will be heavily involved. Even his floor game is decent — 11.9 points on 89 total yards and three catches vs. the Browns.
Ben Watson ($9,600)
It’s hard to ignore Watson on this slate. I want to, I really do, but I can’t. Watson is averaging 15.2 fantasy points per game. Yes, the same Ben Watson that started with the Patriots in 2004 and is now back in New England in 2019 with 17 receptions and 173 yards in 10 games. Not the type of production we see out of a TE1. The great thing is, Watson is the TE1 in the Patriots offense, which force feeds TEs in simulations. Watson is a pretty safe play. I wouldn’t worry much about his previous outing.
Brandin Cooks ($7,000)
The Patriots defense is elite on paper but it hasn’t lived up to the hype in sim land. New England is susceptible to big games and the Rams offense could pop off at low ownership. Cooks, I’d imagine, is the lowest owned of the three Rams WRs. Even if that’s not the case, he’s the cheapest of the three. Cooks is coming off back-to-back games with a TD and that pretty much tells the tale of his floor/ceiling — 12.2 points then 24.8 points.
Ryan Izzo ($1,400)
If you’re not into Ben Watson on the Patriots, then you can look no further than the illustrious, the uncanny, the legend himself, RYAN IZZO. This guy has two TDs in his past two simulations and you know they’ve vultured a TD from two guys you needed to score in a big spot. Izzo isn’t going to see a ton of targets but even the past two games he’s got five catches. At this price, he’s chalk.
