The Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons will face off in a Madden sim Friday at 2:00 p.m. ET. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest. You can set your lineup and play at DraftKings.
Patrick Mahomes, QB, Chiefs ($17,100)
Mahomes has the upper hand against just about any secondary he faces and has the tools to score more than 20 fantasy points against the Falcons. Atlanta’s pass defense is headlined by Desmond Trufant, who is an 84 overall. While his 92 speed is solid, containing Tyreek Hill and the rest of Kansas City’s offensive weapons will be difficult. If you can’t predict the touchdown scorers, it’s safe to go with the guy who’ll likely be dishing out touchdown passes left and right.
Travis Kelce, TE, Chiefs ($13,500)
Mahomes and Hill will likely be rostered at the highest rate in the captain’s spot, but Kelce is the most consistently target player in the Chiefs’ offense. The game script often has him involved early and often. While he might not have the highest upside in the group, he can rack up receptions and yards while giving you the flexibility to execute a Kansas City Stack.
Calvin Ridley, WR, Falcons ($6,200)
Julio Jones is Atlanta’s top target and will draw most of the attention from Kendall Fuller and Tyrann Mathieu in Kansas City’s secondary. Ridley is one of the best WR2’s in the game though and can take advantage of the Chiefs’ remaining defensive backs. Ridley’s hands aren’t close to being as sure as Jones’ but his speed (93) and agility (95) are better.
Devonta Freeman, RB, Falcons ($8,400)
Freeman is a versatile option that’s similar to Darren Williams. He doesn’t cost as much as the Chiefs running back but has a similar level of production. Freeman doesn’t have as much competition on offense and could see more touches than Williams.
