Best lineup strategy for Borussia Dortmund-Wolfsburg Showdown

Jadon Sancho might see a bigger role in Saturday’s Borussia Dortmund-Wolfsburg matchup, but Erling Haaland and Julian Brandt should continue to thrive.

Two top six Bundesliga teams are to face off Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Second place Borussia Dortmund will visit sixth place Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena. We break down the ideal lineup strategy for Showdown contests on DraftKings below. Set your lineups here.

Captain’s Picks

Erling Haaland, F, Dortmund ($17,700)

Haaland has tallied 10 goals and two assists in nine appearances and remains Dortmund’s most dominant offensive force. While Jadon Sancho ($16,800) only played 11 minutes off the bench last week despite his team’s considerable lead over FC Schalke. Haalaand has been the driving force behind Dortmund’s success and should continue to be that moving forward. Banking on a Sancho that’s less than 100 percent while Haaland is at his peak would be unwise.

Julian Brandt, M, Schalke ($13,800)

Brandt has also benefitted from the absence of Sancho. He racked up two assists, took three corners, and won four tackles playing in the middle last Saturday. Brandt’s role could decrease some depending on how Sancho is incorporated into the next match, but he’s in good health and can be a valuable contributor all over the field because of his drive to run from box to box.

Flex Plays

Paulo Otavio, D, Wolfsburg ($6,000)

Otavio’s last performance helped him extend his streak of double-digits in fantasy points to four games. He was instrumental as a playmaker and sent plenty of crosses into the box to create scoring chances. He’s affordable with a player that’s been highly productive and should get a fair amount of chances to win tackles against Dortmund’s dominant offense.

Wout Weghorst, F, Wolfsburg ($7,200)

Weghorst is Wolfsburg’s top scorer with 11 goals but didn’t play in his team’s last match because he was serving a one game suspension. He has twice as many goals as any other Wolfsburg player and also ranks third in assists on his team with three. He should be the focus of his team’s offense and will likely be Wolfsburg’s highest scorer from a fantasy perspective.
