DraftKings has a simulated basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and Denver Nuggets set for 3:00 p.m. ET on Monday. There will be a Showdown contest available for the matchup with $2,000 in prize money up for grabs. We break down the ideal lineup choices for the contest, which you can enter here.
Nikola Jokic ($15,600) and Kyrie Irving ($15,000) have the highest ceilings in this game. Both are capable scorers and assist men on their respective teams, but Jokic’ ability to rebound sets him apart from Irving. Irving is also at a slight disadvantage because he’ll have to split time with Spencer Dinwiddie ($14,100) orchestrating the offense. Dinwiddie can score as well and can be just as good as Irving at distributing the ball. If you want to pay up, opt for Jokic.
Jamal Murray ($11,400) is a more affordable captain option to consider. He’s significantly cheaper than Dinwiddie as a second offensive option, but has enough scoring and playmaking chops to be more productive. While Jokic is Denver’s leading scorer, his primary objective is to pass. That mean’s Murray could get more shooting opportunities — especially since Jokic will be up against a quality interior defender like DeAndre Jordan.
One of my favorite value plays in this one is Paul Milsap ($3,800). He’s a versatile player who can score from all three levels and has a favorable mismatch against Wilson Chandler, who doesn’t excel in any area on defense. While Milsap isn’t a great rebounder, neither are most of Brooklyn’s power forwards.
Caris LeVert ($4,000) is a desirable value play on the Nets side. He has the versatility to play small forward and either guard spot, which could create some mismatches. He should be the best bench option on either side. If you’re looking for non-starters to contribute, LeVert should be at the top of your list. He should have the ball in his hands plenty while running the second unit and could see some overlap with the starting group if he gets hot.
