Who should the Wizards take No. 1 overall in our NBA Mock Draft 3.0?

Can Anthony Edwards be the long-term backcourt partner Bradley Beal needs in Washington?

We’ve already completed a mock draft as if the team with the worst record in the NBA automatically receives the No. 1 pick. We followed up by randomly generating the draft order on Tankathon’s draft simulator last Wednesday and have done the same this week. Our mock draft 3.0 is ready, and LaMelo Ball isn’t expected to go first overall in this one.

The Washington Wizards received the No. 1 pick this time around, and we mocked them selecting Anthony Edwards out of Georgia. Although Bradley Beal has had to carry the team in the absence of John Wall, Washington needs a long-term back court parter for Beal who be a valuable contributor on both ends of the court. Edwards’ athleticism, strength, and physicality could make him an asset from the start. While he might not have the playmaking abilities of Ball, he has more potential as a scorer. Here’s how the rest of the picks shook out.

Note: In the lottery, the Wizards jumped up eight spots from their original lottery odds. That movement is reflected below.
