Tuesday’s first Madden simulation will be an NFC South rivalry matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons. We break down the ideal Showdown strategy for the contest You can set your lineup and play on DraftKings.
Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers ($15,900)
McCaffrey might be the most skilled running back in the game, but he’s the poster child for hit-or-miss plays in Madden DFS. He can completely blow a game up with huge numbers, or barely make a mark on the stat sheet. Despite his inconsistency, he has the highest ceiling of any player in this game and should be considered a top captain’s option. He’ll probably be captained the most in the Showdown format. No lineup without him has a chance at winning if he goes off.
Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons ($16,200)
If a signal caller has one of the best three receivers in the game, he has to be considered a quality fantasy play. Having Jones and other targets raises Ryan’s ceiling against a Panthers secondary that hasn’t been great. Luke Kuechly forcing fumbles on a couple run plays won’t stop Ryan for throwing for a ton of yards and a few scores.
Calvin Ridley, WR, Falcons ($6,600)
Ridley might trail Jones and Austin Hooper in overall rating, but he’s one of the better flex plays available. If Jones doesn’t get going the ball typically finds its way into Ridley’s hands. He falls off the map less frequently than Jones, and consistency is valuable.
Curtis Samuel, WR, Panthers ($5,800)
Samuels’ 95 speed makes him a player to watch. Cam Newton hasn’t necessarily had a go-to wideout, and Samuel has been just as good as D.J. Moore. Newton has the arm strength, and Samuels has the wheels. One big variance play could change the outcome of this contest.
