The Houston Texans and New York Jets will face off in a Madden sim Thursday at 6:00 p.m. ET. The sim will be set to include rain, as opposed to the normal sunny conditions. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest. You can set your lineup and play in the DraftKings contest before kickoff.
Deshaun Watson/DeAndre Hopkins ($16,800/$16,200)
I’m just going to pair these two together as my 1A and 1B options for Captain. Think of that scene in Step Brothers when Dale and Brennan tag team the interview in matching tuxedos. Watson and Hopkins are going to most likely be owned in virtually every lineup in this contest. It really doesn’t matter how chalky the two are, you aren’t going to find many players with upside in Texans-Jets.
Watson has a penchant for turnovers, but usually does a lot of damage on the ground, which raises his floor. Hopkins, who is actually an Arizona Cardinal, is getting one last tour with Houston. He’s been pretty lights out, scoring in four straight games. The Jets have a tough secondary but Hopkins is pretty matchup proof.
Jamison Crowder ($6,800)
Crowder fits the mold for what we’re looking for in a receiver — cheap, high floor, safe play. Forget those traits for a second though, because now Crowder is putting up massive ceiling games. He’s gone over 30 fantasy points in two of three contests. The Texans don’t have an overly imposing defense and Crowder’s newly-found ceiling makes him a perfect lineup fit.
Daniel Brown ($1,000)
The legend of Daniel Brown goes back a long time, decade, centuries even. It starts with an opening-sim lone TD catch and ends with a monster 73 yards and a TD. That was Brown in the first sim vs. this past sim for the Jets. Yes, Brown is a tight end for the New York Jets. So at min price, I’m willing to roll the dice. Brown could get zero catches. He could also catch a TD. High risk, high reward plays.
