The German Football League announced on Thursday that the Bundesliga season will resume play on May 16th. The remainder of the season will be played without fans as Germany has banned mass events until August 31st.

There are nine days worth of matches remaining on the schedule, and ESPN is reporting the league hopes to complete its season by June 30th. A May 16th return leaves seven weekends remaining. With no international competitions to play, we can expect teams to play two games in some weeks.

The next scheduled week on the Bundesliga calendar had league leader Bayern Munich set to travel to face FC Union Berlin. Second place Borussia Dortmund is hosting FC Schalke 04. On the bottom end of the standings, SC Paderborn 07 had a road match against Fortuna Dusseldorf and Werder Bremen was hosting Bayer Leverkusen. An updated schedule will likely be released in the coming days.
