UPDATE: Latest odds, betting splits for Spann-Alvey
In a preliminary bout at UFC 249 in Jacksonville, Memphian Ryan Spann takes on Sam Alvey in a light heavyweight division bout as part of the undercard on May 9th.
Ryan “Superman” Spann is undefeated since arriving in UFC at 3-0, and with an overall MMA record of 17-5. He’s won each of his three fights in the promotion a different way: By decision, by knockout, and by submission. The 28-year-old from Tennessee isn’t ranked in the division yet, but could be well on his way with a victory. He has won 11 of his 17 professional victories by submission.
Sam “Smile’n” Alvey turned 34 on Wednesday, and is a cagefighting veteran with a record of 33-13. He made his debut in UFC in 2014, but has lost his last three fights. He’s a heavy underdog to the up-and-comer Spann, but is a southpaw which give the younger and less-experienced fighter issues. Alvey is +1500 to submit Spann, but hasn’t made an opponent tap out since July of 2016, which was 12 fights ago.
