The PGA Tour returns to action next week when the Charles Schwab Challenge gets underway at Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth. The tournaments kicks off on Thursday, June 11th, with Rory McIlroy leading the field of 140 golfers. It marks the first tournament of the 2019-2020 season since play was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
DraftKings Sportsbook opened odds for the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge, and McIlroy is the favorite at +750. Jon Rahm follows at +900, followed by Justin Thomas (+1400) and Webb Simpson (+1800). The longest shots on the board at +100000 include Olin Brown, Keith Clearwater, Franklin Corpening, David Frost, Tom Lehman, and Scott McCarron.
McIlroy has appeared in six events this season, and has top ten finishes in all of them, plus a win at the WGC-HSBC Champions. He’s finished no worse than fifth, and is averaging 68.6 per round.
It’s interesting to note that of the recent Tour winners playing at the Charles Schwab Challenge, all offer potentially valuable odds. SungJae Im won the Honda Classic at the end of February and Patrick Reed won the WGC-Mexico Championship the week prior, and both are listed at +3300. Viktor Hovland won the week before that and is listed at +6600.
The last five winners of the Colonial tournament are all taking part this week, and include Kevin Na (+5500 this year), Justin Rose (+4500), Kevin Kisner (+8000), Jordan Spieth (+5500), and Chris Krik (+20000)
