Two featherweights that have competed before in a different promotion do it for the first time on the big stage when Jordan Griffin takes on Darrick Minner at UFC on ESPN 10 this Saturday in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex facility. These two did battle on March 2nd of 2018, where Griffin won via armbar at 3:59 of the second round.

“The Native Psycho” Griffin is a member of the Bad River Band Of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He’s 18-7 but 1-2 in the UFC, earning his first win in the promotion in his last fight against T.J. Brown via guillotine choke. Prior to that he had lost back-to-back decisions to Dan Ige and Chas Skelly, and earned his contract with a Dana White’s Contender Series win against Maurice Mitchell by rear-naked choke.

When he wins, it’s by submission: 14 of his 18 career MMA victories have been by stoppage, and eight of those forced his opponent to tap.

Minner is another grappling specialist, whose 24-11 career mark includes an astonishing 21 submissions. He lost his only UFC fight so far to Grant Dawson in February where he was choked out in the second round, which was his eighth loss via tap out. The 30-year-old began competing in October of 2012 as a professional, which means he isn’t afraid to get in the ring often.

There are few fights you’ll ever see in the UFC where a submission seems more likely to happen.
