Best lineup strategy for Bayern Munich-Borussia Mönchengladbach Showdown

Bayern Munich’s defenders could be de quality captain’s picks in its Saturday matchup with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach will face off Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET on FS1. While Bayern sits atop the table, it is dealing with a slew of injuries that could help Mönchengladbach. DraftKings has Showdown contests available for the match, and we break down some ideal picks below. You can set your lineups here.

Captain’s Picks

Top goal scorer Robert Lewandoski and lead assist man Thomas Muller are out for this match, and Serge Gnabry is questionable to play. That could make Joshua Kimmich ($11,100) the top captain’s option for Bayern. He’s reached double-digits in fantasy points in each of his last 10 games. He might not have a ton of scoring upside, but the floor his passing provides makes him a safe bet in any contest.

Bayern’s defense is one of the best in the league, and Mönchengladbach won’t have top scorer Alassane Plea. Because of this, I’m comfortable with choosing Alphonso Davies ($12,000) as my other captain’s pick. The fullback likes to get forward and attack on the wings and is averaging more than 17 DKFP per game since the Bundesliga returned last month.

Flex Plays

Kingsley Coman ($8,800) should be fairly involved in Bayern’s attack with Lewandowski and Muller out. He scored against Bayern Leverkusen in his last match and has the pace to get in behind most defenses. He could benefit from starting at forward and get more opportunities than usual.

Ramy Bensabaini ($5,000) could see a lot of action against the top offense in the Bundesliga. He and Marcus Thuram are the only Mönchengladbach players averaging more then 10 DKFP per game and is one of his team’s more active passers.
