Best lineup strategy for Barcelona-Mallorca Showdown

Lionel Messi is a clear favorite captain’s candidate in Saturday’s Barcelona-Mallorca game if he’s healthy enough to go.

Top ranked Barcelona will take on Mallorca in what is shaping up to be a lopsided La Liga matchup Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET. DraftKings will have Showdown contests available, and we break down some ideal picks below. You can set your lineups here.

Captain’s Picks

Everyone will be waiting to see if Lionel Messi ($19,200) — who has been dealing with a quad injury — will start Saturday. He was a full participant in training earlier this week and is easily the most electric player in this game. His 26.1 DKFP average is significantly higher than any other player’s in this game, and he has the ability to score and assist his teammates at an elite level.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen ($10,500) should also receive some consideration if Luis Suarez doesn’t play. Mallorca gives up more fantasy points to goalkeepers than all but two other La Liga teams. Barcelona stacks will be common, so banking on a keeper to get win and shutout bonuses could give you some much-needed variance.

Flex Plays

There’s a chance that neither Messi or Suarez will play, and that means Antoine Griezmann ($10,000) could be Barcelona’s top target at forward. He’s not quite cut from the same cloth as the either of those superstars, but can create chances against a weak defense.

It’s safe to say that Mallorca’s defenders will be very involved in this game, and Joan Sastre ($6,400) could be the most active of the group. The right back makes it a habit to send in crosses consistently to create chances for his teammates.
