It’s very last-minute, but Mariya Agapova will take on Hannah Cifers this Saturday at UFC Fight Night on ESPN in Las Vegas. Agapova was was originally scheduled to battle Melissa Gatto, but the Brazilian Gatto can’t get in the country right now. But is there DFS value in this matchup?
Maria Agapova: $8,700
Hannah Cifers: $7,500
Agapova is -305 on the money line, with Cifers the underdog at +235.
The Kazakhstani Agapova is 8-1 career with six stoppages, including two straight in the first round on the Invicta circuit in her last two fights. She fell to Tracy Cortez at Dana White’s Contender Series for her only career loss, but Cortez appears to be a very good fighter.
Cifers caught a first round kneebar from Mackenzie Dern just two weeks ago, the second time she’s been stopped in a row. She’s now 10-5 in MMA, 2-3 in the UFC, and hasn’t shown any stopping power at all, though with some decent activity at 4.71 significant strikes per minute landed.
If you think Agapova can keep the stoppages coming, and there is some buzz around her as a potential contender, she would seem to be the play. But Cifers is an avoid at all costs, as she’s show no ability to end things early in a win.
