DFS Lineup advice for UFC Fight Night and MMA $500k Throwdown Special tonight

UFC Fight Night has a 10-fight card starting at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+ tonight. We’ve got picks and lineup strategy to help you in the $500k Throwdown Special

Tonight’s UFC card has plenty of ways to get down action, but if you can figure out who is going to win, and how, you’ll be a big winner in DraftKings MMA $500k Throwdown Special, where $100,000 is guaranteed for first place with just a $15 entry.

Each fighter has an assigned salary, and a roster will have six fighters not exceeding the salary cap of $50,000. And with a premium on stopping your opponent early, picking some strikers that can end things in one round or less would be a great way to advance to the top of the table.

Here’s how the scoring works, and notice how heavily it leans towards winning big and early:

Moves

Significant Strikes: +0.5 Pts
Advance: +3 Pts
Takedown: +5 Pts
Reversal/Sweep: +5 Pts
Knockdown: +10 Pts

Fight Conclusion Bonuses

1st Round Win: +90 Pts
2nd Round Win: +70 Pts
3rd Round Win: +45 Pts
4th Round Win: +40 Pts
5th Round Win: +40 Pts
Decision Win: +30 Pts

So here are our best bets for UFC 250’s MMA Million at DraftKings:

Julia Avila ($9,300)

With so many unsure things on this card, spend the money and get your most-likely first round stoppage. Avila goes by “Raging Panda,” and at 7-1 Avila has three KO’s and one submission on her resume. It might not seem like much, but her opponent is the susceptible Gina Mazany, who returns to the UFC exactly one fight after being dropped because of a last-minute needed reschedule.

Mariya Agapova ($8,700)

The Kazakhstani Agapova is 8-1 career with six stoppages, including two straight in the first round on the Invicta circuit in her last two fights. She steps up in class fighting Hannah Cifers, who took a first round kneebar from Mackenzie Dern just two weeks ago, but she has the striking power to end this early. The 23-year-old should just continue to improve as she gets better training and more experience. That starts tonight.

Tyson Nam ($8,000)

Desperate times call for desperate fighters, and that’s what you’re getting with Nam. He’s lost his only two UFC fights ever, he’s fighting a guy that accepted the bout four days ago then missed weight by 2.5 pounds, but he’s shown enough stopping power in his 18-11 record with 10 KO’s and a submission. Usually when a UFC roster fighter gets a last-minute replacement from the independent circuit, they’re a much bigger favorite than Nam is over Zarrukh Adashev (career 3-1) tonight. Nam should be able to put it together for a win.
