Captain’s Pick

Malik Beasley ($8,400)

It’s like they aren’t even trying to make actually pricing for this contest. Beasley was dealt to the T-Wolves before the trade deadline by the Nuggets. Immediately after, Beasley essentially became the third wheel to D’Angelo Russell Karl-Anthony Towns temporarily. In 14 starts for Minnesota, Beasley was averaging 20.7 points per game. So a nice chunk of his box scores with the T-Wolves are pretty juicy at this price. Beasley to me is a lock for the FLEX spot.

Fade of the Game

Fred VanVleet ($13,500 CP)

Trying to pick out a fade in these simulation contests is like trying to find meaning in a Pauly Shore film. Sorry, Cher. So FVV is overpriced because he’s a starter and plays a ton of minutes. He really doesn’t have a very high fantasy ceiling and that’s not something we want to be a part of at this price points — especially at Captain. So without upside, we cast VanVleet aside in this contest and look to value.

Value Picks

As I’ve said multiple times throughout these NBA sim contests: The Raptors are where the value is at. It’s almost like nothing changes week-to-week with these contests and pricing, weird. So the Raps have had a ton of injuries this season that they’ve battled through. Really you can start with Terence Davis ($4,400) and work your way down the line to Rondae Hollis-Jefferson ($4,000) and Marc Gasol ($3,600). Any of them are strong plays and that’s all we need to fill out the rest of our lineup.
