Tale of the tape for Jussier Formiga vs. Alex Perez

UPDATE: Full betting splits for Formiga-Perez

A pair of ranked flyweights do battle at UFC 250 when Jussier Formiga takes on Alex Perez on Saturday, June 6th at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Formiga is ranked #4 in the division and has a 23-7 career record, and is 9-6 in the UFC. The Brazilian is a true jiu-jitsu practitioner, with no knockouts in those 23 wins, and 10 stoppages by submission. Despite losing his last two fights to Joseph Benavidez and Brandon Moreno, he’s still in the mix for a shot at the flyweight belt.

Perez is the #9 flyweight, and is 23-5 in MMA and 5-1 since joining the UFC. He’s got 11 career stoppages, seven of them as submissions, so this could be a ground-based battle. He’s also the more active fighter, averaging 4.48 significant strikes per minute and 3.47 takedowns per 15 minutes.

Both of these fighters defend the takedown as well as anyone on the roster, with Formiga repelling 86% of shoots, and Perez 87%.
