UPDATE 6:45 p.m.: Gillian Robertson wins by submission (rear naked choke) at 4:32 of the third round. It was a perfectly controlled fight on the ground by Robertson, and if it lasted 28 more seconds she’d of won by unanimous decision.

UPDATE, 1:50 p.m.: Casey struggled at the weigh-in and the betting public is starting to move against her. They were backing her through Friday, but as of Saturday afternoon, 59% of the handle is on Robertson. Casey is still getting 55% of total bets at DraftKings Sportsbook, but the sharps likely are moving away after the weigh-in.

A rough weigh-in for one fighter hasn’t deterred bettors when Cortney Casey takes on Gillian Robertson at UFC on ESPN 11 this Saturday in Las Vegas. Originally Taila Santos was to be Robertson’s opponent, but travel restrictions due to Covid-19 kept that from happening.

Casey is 9-7 in the UFC, and had Mara Romero Borella tap out to her armbar just 34 days ago. She’s 5-6 in the UFC with three stoppage wins. “Cast Iron” lands 4.72 strikes per minute with just 0.34 takedown attempts per 15 minutes in the octagon, but appeared to have a brutal weight cut despite coming in 2.5 pounds under the limit. It was bizarre to see, but it hasn’t deterred bettors, who have backed her with 59% of the bets and 61% of the cash on this fight.

The Canadian Robertson is 7-4 career with five submissions and a KO, with a 4-2 mark in the UFC. She has yet to see the third round in a win or loss, and “The Savage” will look to fight on the mat with 3.44 takedowns averaged per 15 minutes and only 2.18 strikes per minute. She’s getting 41% of the tickets and just 39% of the cash despite coming in as a small favorite.
