Modest sleeper and deep sleeper options to consider for NASCAR DFS at Talladega today

We break down some sleepers and some deep sleepers today’s Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

“The Biggest & The Fastest” hosts NASCAR once again today for the Geico 500 is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. ET on Fox, and of course DraftKings will have DFS contests for the race. Find six drivers that can avoid The Big One, and you’ll be in line for a huge payday. Finishing is as important as how fast your cars are today.

We break down some of the best picks to round out your roster below, and you can set your lineup here.

Modest Sleepers

William Byron ($8,000)

Starts 19th today, and will have enough car to move up if he can avoid the wreck. Last time at ‘Dega he won the first stage and finished eighth in the second. The price isn’t the problem here, it’s avoiding wrecks. Byron has the car and is doing a better job of staying on the track as of late this season.

Brendan Gaughan ($6,200)

Has avoided a wreck in three of his last four races here, and started 39th at Daytona this year but finished seventh. Daytona is the only other superspeedway in NASCAR, so he can run well at high speeds. A bargain at the back of the field today.

Deep Sleepers

Austin Dillon ($5,500)

Started 20th and finished sixth here last time, and will begin in the 17th spot today. Has been quietly moving up from starting positions as of late, and averaging 34.1 fantasy points this season. Worth a flyer.

Ryan Newman ($5,400)

Averaging 30.5 points per race this season, but more importantly finished second here last time after starting 13th. Has improved his starting position during his last five races at ‘Dega, with two second-place endings. He runs great here, and has a chance to do so again today after starting in the 14-spot.
