Shea Curran put $1000 on a big parlay in this limited sports weekend: Webb Simpson to win the RBC Heritage on the PGA Tour, and NASCAR driver Chase Elliott to win the Geico 500 at Talladega.
He was a winner on Sunday as Simpson took the golf tournament, and was halfway to $311,000. But all those dreams are dashed as Elliott, while running third at ‘Dega with 53 laps to go, got spun and hit the wall at the most dangerous track on the circuit.
And that’ll do it for this bet.
One bettor has a lot of money riding on Chase Elliott tonight

And if you think he hedged some of this huge bet... not so much.
I don’t care what anyone says, I’m riding this mother fucker to the end ✌️

It must have been the sweat of a lifetime, but it’s not going to happen. At least Curran seems to be in good spirits about it.
Haha, well it was a fun fucking ride. I enjoyed it!

It’s not meant to be, and it’s more bad luck for Elliott, who except for his midweek win at Charlotte seems to be snake bit this year even when running well. I’m going to wager Brad Keselowski won’t be the most popular person in either the Elliott or Curran households this evening.
A push from Brad Keselowski sends Chase Elliott around! Heavy damage for the No. 9 machine. pic.twitter.com/OEgH7FZ8iv
