With two matches in the English Premier League today, and the favorites are receiving most of the early action at DraftKings Sportsbook.
At 1:00 p.m. ET Leicester City faces Brighton from King Power Stadium, with two sides on opposite sides of the table. The Foxes are in third place on 54 points, and can avoid a play-in home-and-home for the UEFA Champions League if they can stay ahead of Chelsea over the last eight rounds. They’re three points clear for now, and it’s been another outstanding campaign for Jamie Vardy who has 19 goals so far this EPL season.
Brighton still has some work to do to avoid dropping to the Championship in 2020, in 15th place with 32 points. The club looks to stay up for the third consecutive season, and in Frenchman Neal Maupay they have a 22-year-old striker around whom they can build. Their 2-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday, with Maupay winning it in the 95th minute, should go a long way towards staying up.
Tottenham host West Ham in a London derby, with the home side possibly finishing short of Europe this season. Spurs are a disappointing eighth so far this season, four points plus goal difference from the Europa League spot in fifth place. Harry Kane does have 11 goals in 21 matches and retains his spot as one of the best strikers in Europe, but they’ve conceded 41 times while scoring only 48. As high as expectations were entering this season, they’ve fallen well short so far.
West Ham will feel like they need points from the match, as they have only 27 and are ahead of Bournemouth merely on goal difference from relegation. The Hammers have been in the top flight since 2012 and have been through the survivalist stage before, but are in real danger with eight rounds remaining. France’s Sébastien Haller leads all West Ham scorers in the EPL with seven goals, but the club might feel lucky to even be safe for now: on xG difference they’re a -20.6, which places them 19th in the table.
