UPDATE: Fight day odds and betting splits for Woodson-Erosa
A last-minute replacement was needed for Sean Woodson when Kyle Nelson was unable to fight, and a fighter that’s 0-3 in the UFC steps in as a last-minute replacement in Julian Erosa on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 12.
The fight as listed as a catchweight bout, which might make sense if Erosa can’t make weight on such short notice. Both of these fighters were at featherweight in their last UFC bouts, which is 145 lbs. But it would make sense to have this be at 150 if that’s the case.
Woodson is 7-0 in MMA, and won his UFC debut last October over Kyle Bochniak by unanimous decision. Fighting at 145 lbs. generally, he’s only had three stoppages in his career and found his way to the UFC defeating Terrence McKinney in Dana White’s Contender Series by flying knee last July. He averaged 5.27 strikes per minute with no takedowns in his only full fight in the promotion.
Erosa is 23-8 overall, but was 0-3 in his turn with the UFC after earning a contract via Dana White’s Contender Series, and 1-1 prior to that in the promotion. His KO loss to Julio Arce last May saw him dropped, but he’s earned a win on the independent circuit in the meantime. Now he gets back with a chance to hopefully stick once again with a win. He averaged 4.18 strikes per minute and 0.83 takedowns per 15 during his winless run in the company.
Here are the betting odds at DraftKings Sportsbook for Sean Woodson vs. Julian Erosa at UFC on ESPN 12 on June 27th:
