The Travelers Championship heads into the weekend rounds on Saturday, and we are seeing an adjustment in tee times and groups. Normally, tournaments run twosomes on Saturday and Sunday. However, due to thunderstorms in Saturday’s weather forecast, the tournament will have pairs turned into trios and tee times every nine or ten minutes, starting at 7:15 a.m. ET.
Things are looking clear in the morning, but scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast starting at 11 a.m. It turns into heavier stuff around 1 p.m. and could last until 6 p.m. before it cuts back again.
The current Saturday tee times wrap up by 9:15, with Phil Mickelson, Will Gordon, and Mackenzie Hughes in the final group. That theoretically should give them enough time to close out their round before the rain gets going too hard.
There is always concern about a pattern moving in earlier than expected, so we’ll keep an eye out heading into late Saturday morning.
