You could have bet on Sean Woodson earlier this week to defeat Kyle Nelson, but visa issues kept the Canadian from entering the country, so Julian Erosa steps in at UFC on ESPN 12 tonight. With Woodson moving up from 145 and Erosa down from 155, a catchweight of 150 lbs. has been established.

Woodson is 7-0 in MMA, and won his UFC debut last October over Kyle Bochniak by unanimous decision. He’s only had three stoppages in his career, including a flying knee to Terrence McKinney in Dana White’s Contender Series last July. He averaged 5.27 strikes per minute but no takedowns in his only full fight in the promotion.

Erosa is 23-8 overall, but 0-3 in the UFC after earning a contract via Dana White’s Contender Series, and 1-1 prior to that in the promotion. With four straight losses in the UFC, despite a win on the independent circuit recently, he needs a win to earn another contract. He averaged 4.18 strikes per minute and 0.83 takedowns per 15 during his winless run in the company.
