MLB is planning on starting an abbreviated 60-game season in July this year after being delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. That’s 102 games less than the norm, so expected win total numbers have dropped significantly. How will teams navigate this new format? Aces could pitch more frequently with fewer games, but how that affects performance remains to be seen. DraftKings Sportsbook has the odds on expected win totals for each team geared up, and we break down what teams are in the best shape here.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the more interesting teams to keep an eye on at this point. They went 30-30 to kick off last season and their over/under for this year is set at 31.5. The odds of the Diamondbacks hitting the over are set at +100 while the odds of them falling short are -124. Vegas seems to think there’s a good chance that Arizona won’t win at least 32 games, as it is tied with the Miami Marlins — who have an over/under of 24.5 wins — for most juice on the under.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites to win it all at +375 and have an over/under of 37.5 wins. Only the New York Yankees (+400) can match that mark. Both sides are favored to win their respective leagues, but the Yankees have more juice on the under at -118 while the odds of the Dodgers hitting the under is set at -112.
The Houston Astros have the third best title odds at +650 and have an over/under of 35.5 wins (-112 on both sides). Some of these numbers could shift when MLB releases its 2020 schedule, but that won’t happen until after players undergo Covid-19 testing. Here’s a complete list of win total odds for each team.
