In a rematch of their last fight, Alexander Volkanovski takes on Max Holloway for the featherweight championship at UFC 251 from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi as the co-main event of the biggest card of the year.
These two fought on December 14th, and Volkanovski won via unanimous decision to take the belt for the first time in what was Holloway’s first defense of the crown. Now they’re back for Round 2, and the bettors think it will go the same as before.
Volkanovski is 21-1 as an MMA fighter with 14 stoppages and a UFC record of 8-0. Currently #7 in the pound-for-pound rankings, he’s one of the most dominant fighters on the planet and can do it on his feet or the mat. He averages 6.15 strikes per minute and 2.16 takedowns per 15 minutes in the promotion. He won the first fight 50-45, 48-47, 48-47 to become the first Australian UFC belt holder.
The last seven fights Max Holloway has been in have been for a championship, either at featherweight or lightweight. He’s 21-5 in MMA, and has been with the promotion since 2012. The Hawai’ian has 12 stoppages on his record, but has lost two of his last three, dropping the strap to Dustin Poirier in April of 2019 as well. He’s as active as any fighter on the roster, with 6.66 punches per minute landing.
