UPDATE June 5, 8:55 a.m.: The fight is back on after a coronavirus scare.

Some breaking news from our friends at MMAFighting.com, as middleweight Ian Heinisch won’t be fighting Gerald Meerschaert as scheduled this Saturday at UFC 250.

A change has been made to the UFC 250 card with Ian Heinisch being forced out of his middleweight fight against Gerald Meerschaert.

Multiple sources confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Thursday. The reason behind Heinisch’s withdrawal have not been revealed at this time.

As for Meerschaert, the search is underway for a new opponent, with the UFC hopeful a replacement can be secured in time for Saturday night’s card.

Meerschaert is 13-3 in his MMA career, but has dropped his last two fights via decision. He was a -130 favorite to win over Meerschaert’s +105 odds, but that’s all out the window now.

Whomever signs up to be Meerschaert’s next opponent better be ready as soon as the clock starts: He’s 31-12 in his MMA career, but an astonishing 29 of those wins are by stoppage, with 23 of them by submission.
