Kevin Harvick wins QuikTrip 500 for second victory this season

The #4 Busch Light had it pretty easy from a pit from a bit more than 50 to go, and clean air the rest of the way to coast to victory

In what looked like an easy Sunday drive for the final stage of the race, Kevin Harvick won the Quik Trip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway today.

Harvick exited the pits on Lap 268 with the lead, ahead of Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski. Joey Logano stayed out for a few more laps trying to catch a caution, but when he came in on Lap 271 and ceded the lead to Harvick, it looked like if Harvick could not hit a wall or any grass he’d be the winner.

In a tribute to Alan Kulwicki, Harvick did a “Polish victory lap” after his win, with three fingers held up outside his window in tribute to Dale Earnhardt, just as he did after his win in 2001 at the same track.

Teammates Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. had a huge battle for second place, but Busch crossed the line first. Jimmie Johnson getting to seventh place means he’ll be in the draw for a top 12 starting spot next week at The Paperclip at Martinsville.

Here is the final finishing order for the QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
