The featured simulated basketball contest on DraftKings for Wednesday afternoon is between the Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers. Here, we’ll go over how to approach lineup construction for the fantasy basketball contest.
This is a pretty even contest when it comes to players in the Captain’s slot. We have a lot of solid options to sift through on both the Pacers and Trail Blazers. The first name that sticks out is Domantas Sabonis ($15,000), who is priced below both Damian Lillard at $17,400 and CJ McCollum at $15,600. Sabonis — and most of the high-priced players in this contest — have similar ceilings. Sabonis has a solid floor given his assist and rebounding totals.
Other plays include, Dame, CJ and Hassan Whiteside. At $13,800, Whiteside has the most value of the ceiling plays. He’s the cheapest and we’ve seen him put up 20+ rebounds plenty of times this season. If we roll one of those boxes, we’re looking good. I’d imagine the ownership trickles down from the top as well.
There’s a decent amount of value on each side of this contest. Right off the bat, Malcolm Brogdon ($7,800) and Myles Turner ($6,600) are both pretty cheap starters. Brogdon has dealt with injuries this season, but that only shortens his range of outcomes. Same goes for Turner, who gives us a decent floor with his rebounding numbers.
As for value plays, Anfernee Simons has a few ceiling games with 20+ points we can look at for $4,600. T.J. McConnell ($3,200) has a really nice floor given his production on a 36 minute per basis. Gary Trent Jr. ($3,000) is sort of in the same boat as Simons — when Dame and CJ were injured, Trent was asked to step up. Rodney Hood ($2,400) rounds out the list of values as a starter early in the season who tore his Achilles and was ruled out the rest of the season.
