The PGA Tour restarts its 2019-2020 season on Thursday with the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. It marks the first tournament since Tyrrell Hatton won the Arnold Palmer Invitational before Covid-19 forced the suspension of play.
DraftKings Sportsbook posted odds early last week, and has since updated them with the final field of entrants. We’ve seen some movement, thanks in part to how the betting public is approaching this tournament. Rory McIlroy (+850) remains the favorite with the betting public firmly behind him at 5% of handle and 7% of total bets, but there are some modest sleepers among the ten most bet players.
Brooks Koepka (+2500) and Jordan Spieth (+4600) lead the way with each getting 7% of total handle. It’s been a rough season for Koepka as he has been dealing with a knee issue, missing two cuts and failing to earn a top ten spot in any of his seven tournaments this season. He finished second at Colonial in 2018, but did not play last year. Spieth has two top tens in nine tournaments, and has missed one cut. A year ago at Colonial, he tied for eighth place.
The longest odds in the top ten most bet go to Justin Rose at +5000. He has a top five finish this season, but missed the cut in three of the last four tournaments he entered before play was suspended. He’s getting 5% of handle, which is tied for third most, and 4% of bets.
