The Miami Heat have risen to the top of the Eastern Conference after missing the playoffs last year and look like a legitimate contender. The team acquired a leader in Jimmy Butler over the offseason and also benefited from Bam Adebayo blossoming into an All-Star talent. Role players like Goran Dragic, Kendrick Nunn, Tyler Herro, and Duncan Robinson helped Miami become a four seed. Can the late-season additions of players like Andre Iguodala and Jae Crowder set the Heat over the top? We break down some potential NBA Finals matchups here.
Miami Heat NBA Finals matchup odds
Best Favorite: Heat vs. Lakers (+2500)
The Heat are undefeated against the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors this year and have won three of their four games against the Philadelphia 76ers. Although Miami has been praised as one of the best teams at home this season, it’s taken care of business on the road as well. It could be one of the teams most suited for taking on tough opponents in neutral venues, making a potential matchup with the Western Conference favorites possible.
Best Longshot: Heat vs. Rockets (+8000)
The odds of this matchup are identical to a potential 76ers-Rockets meeting. The Celtics are the only team ahead of Miami in the standings that it doesn’t have a winning record against this year. Most will bet on the Clippers or Lakers to come out of the Western Conference, so a lot of the best longshot bets should feature the Rockets. A Heat-Nuggets matchup (+12000) seems like a bit of a stretch.
