UPDATE: Fight day odds and betting splits for Andrade-Namajunas
The top-two ranked women’s strawweights in the UFC face off on the main card of UFC 251 when Jessica Andrade takes on Rose Namajunas on Saturday, July 11th from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. This bout is a rematch of the Fight of The Night at UFC 237, where Andrade KO’d Namajunas via a slam in the second round to win the title.
Andrade has a 20-7 career record, but is likely still smarting from her loss to Weili Zhang in just 42 seconds in her first championship defense. She’s one of the most active fighters in the UFC, averaging 6.55 strikes per minute as well as 3.21 takedowns per 15 minutes in the octagon. The Brazilian has won via stoppage in 14 of her 20 victories, and has been fighting in the UFC since 2013.
Rose Namajunas is 9-4 in MMA and comes in as a significant betting favorite. The former champion lost her title to her next opponent in only her second defense after beating Joanna Jedrzejczyk twice. The native of Milwaukee goes by the nickname “Thug,” and likes to win on the mat: She’s got five submissions in her young career.
