A pair of Top 10-ranked fighters clash at UFC on ESPN 13 this Wednesday when Jimmie Rivera takes on Cody Stamann from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi on the main card. Though both fighters are ranked in the bantamweight division (135 lbs.), this bout will take place at featherweight (145 lbs.).
Rivera is 22-4 in his MMA career, and began his UFC stint in 2015 with a 5-0 mark. Since he’s 1-3, though his losses are to three outstanding opponents in Marlon Moraes, Aljamain Sterling and new bantamweight division champion Petr Yan, who he lost to via unanimous decision. He moves up four kilograms for this one, but is still ranked #9 at the lighter division. He lands 4.10 strikes per minute but where he really excels is in takedown defense, repelling 95% of shots taken against him.
Stamann defeated Brian Kelleher at UFC 250 on June 6th, and gets right back in the octagon for this one. He’s 3-1-1 since joining the UFC which earned him the #10 ranking, and holds an MMA mark of 19-2 overall at age 30. He tends to go the distance with 11 of his wins needing the judges, but for daily fantasy players he still might have value due to his 4.51 strikes per minute and extremely high 3.34 takedowns per 15 minutes of ring time in the UFC. His draw against Song Yadong is the only blemish on the Chinese fighters record.
