A pair of Top 10-ranked fighters move up a weight class at UFC on ESPN 13 this Wednesday when Jimmie Rivera battles Cody Stamann from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. But is there fantasy value when these two moving up to 145 lbs from bantamweight at 135?

DraftKings DFS Salaries

Jimmie Rivera: $8,400
Cody Stamann: $7,800

Rivera is the money line favorite at -141, with Stamann a +112 underdog.

Rivera is 22-4 in his MMA career, and lands 4.10 strikes per minute. But where he really excels is in takedown defense, holding off 95% of shots taken against him. Although he’s 6-3 in UFC fights, he only scores 57.5 DFS points per fight.

Stamann defeated Brian Kelleher at UFC 250 on June 6th, and gets right back in the octagon for this one with a 19-2 record. He does tend to go the distance with 11 of his wins needing the judges, and all four of his wins in the UFC needing the judges. But he’s a more active fighter with 4.51 strikes per minute and extremely high 3.34 takedowns per 15 minutes of ring time in the UFC. It converts into 74.9 DFS points per outing.

If there’s any value here, it’s on Stamann’s ability to score despite his cheap price. But the lack of stopping power from either of these fighters is a bit concerning. If you need an under par value fighter, Stamann can be a good choice here. But Rivera is likely a stayaway.
