Lamar Jackson, BAL at KC ($7,800)

This is a crazy slate for quarterbacks. Despite tonight’s slate only having three games, we have Jackson, Patrick Mahomes ($8,300) and Russell Wilson ($8,000) as options. Of the three, I think Jackson makes for the strongest play since it is a Weather Wednesday. Due to his ability to run the ball, there is no QB in Madden more equipped to deal with the effects of bad weather than Jackson. He’s rushed for a total of 2,157 yards and 20 touchdowns in our sims.

Josh Allen, BUF at PIT ($6,100)

Allen isn’t much of a consideration for me and I much prefer paying up for Jackson. As for a cheap QB, Allen makes it by default. There are so many studs on this slate that he’s the only cheap player to choose from at the position. Allen has totaled 1,851 rushing yards, but it’s hard to seriously think about playing him tonight due to the options priced above him.

Running Backs

Damien Williams, KC vs. BAL ($6,000)

Unlike quarterback, running back is not a loaded position tonight. There are only two players at the position averaging double-digit DKFP. As opposed to looking for upside, I am searching for any players at the position that will reliably score any DKFP. At least Williams is regularly involved in both the running and passing game for the Chiefs, leading to an average of 13.5 DKFP. While that might not seem like much, it’s the most of any running back on the slate.

Jaylen Samuels, PIT vs. BUF ($3,500)

I have never recommended Samuels for any Madden contest. I have never thought about recommending Samuels. I have never even thought about thinking about Samuels as a play. This changes tonight due to the lack of players to choose from at running back. As the Steelers’ pass catching back, Samuels averages 6.0 DKFP and has caught 67 passes. Due to the bad weather, this could be a spot where Pittsburgh looks to utilize him with screen passes. There’s also a chance that all the running backs on this slate will be terrible and Samuels can at least be as awful as the other options, but at a cheaper price tag.

Wide Receivers

Davante Adams, GB at SEA ($7,800)

On a Weather Wednesday, what is nice about rostering Adams is that he isn’t reliant on making the type of big play that could be tough to come by in poor conditions. He gets peppered with targets and is one of the higher floor players at the position. Adams has caught 152 passes for 2,668 yards and has gone over 21 DKFP in four consecutive games.

James Washington, PIT vs. BUF ($3,700)

Washington has been one of the better receivers priced under $4K in Madden. He averages 11.1 DKFP and has shown to have a bit of upside. Washington has a handful of games with over 100 receiving yards and 20+ DKFP. In total, he has 1,635 sim receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce, KC vs. BAL ($6,500)

By a mile, Kelce is the top-rated tight end on this slate. He has a 96 overall rating and nobody else at the position tonight is even close to being a 90 overall. This has led to decent production and Kelce averages 14.8 DKFP. Due to the poor weather, there is reason to think Mahomes will look over the middle for Kelce more often than usual. It might be tough to get the ball downfield to the speedy Tyreek Hill ($8,000). In addition, the Ravens have extremely strong cornerback play, so that’s more reason for Mahomes to look over the middle as opposed to down the sidelines.

Tyler Kroft, BUF at PIT ($4,000)

The cheap tight end options aren’t great on this slate. We are likely going to be best off paying up for Kelce. If forced to save salary, Kroft is a somewhat safe option. He averages 9.8 DKFP and usually gets a decent amount of targets from Josh Allen. Kroft has caught nine passes in the last two games and scored double-digit DKFP in both of those contests.

Defense/Special Teams

Bills DST at PIT ($2,300)

In the bad weather, Ben Roethlisberger ($6,500) is a QB to pick on. He’s been prone to mistakes in Madden and thrown 15 interceptions. This is the most of any quarterback on tonight’s slate and the Bills have a solid secondary. In addition, Roethlisberger has been held to single-digit DKFP in three straight games.
