The New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew are facing off Thursday night at 10:30 p.m. ET in the final MLS is Back Tournament match of the day. DraftKings has DFS available for the game, and we go over the best Showdown strategies for the below. Set your lineups here.
Gyasi Zardes ($15,300) is off to a great start this tournament and scored two goals in a 4-0 victory against Cincinnati. New York isn’t nearly as bad defensively, but Zardes appears to follow up last year’s 13 goals season with a second straight as Columbus’ scoring leader. He doesn’t provide much passing upside, but his finishing has been top notch so far.
Columbus has been a sturdy defensive team against every position, so opting for an aggressive New York fullback could pan out well. Kyle Duncan ($11,100) has made it a point to get forward and send in crosses. He should be busy against Columbus and has the potential to secure more tackles and get more interceptions than usual. He has some freedom to roam the field, so he can affect the game from all over.
Daniel Royer ($8,200) is one of New York’s more dynamic offensive threats. Although Columbus is the top ranked team defensively against forwards right now, Royer led the Red Bulls in goals (11) and assists (9) last season. His ability to score and distribute gives him a solid floor.
Lucas Zelarayan ($11,000) will probably be one of the more popular captain’s picks. He has the highest price and DKFP average (21.1) in the contest and his crossing is head and shoulders above any other player. The goal and two assists he registered in his last match make him a must-play option.
