It’s a welterweight showdown in a battle that likely doesn’t last 15 minutes when Alex Oliveira battles Peter Sobotta on Fight Island for UFC on ESPN 14 this Saturday evening in Abu Dhabi.

“Cowboy” Oliveira is 21-8-1 with two no contests at age 32. He’s been one of the most active fighters on the UFC roster since joining in 2015, with a 10-6-1 record in the promotion. He looks to win with his ground game as so many Brazilians do, and averages 2.88 takedowns per 15 minutes in the octagon. After falling in three straight, he got back on the right track with a win over Max Griffin in March, and has still earned his way on the main card here.

Sobotta is a 33-year-old German with a 4-2 UFC record since his recent return after flaming out with an 0-3 mark his first time around in 2009-10. He’s 17-6 overall with 15 stoppages, and is another fighter that’s not afraid of the mat with 1.76 takedowns per regular match in the octagon. He lost his last fight with Leon Edwards on March 17th, which was stopped with just one second remaining.
