Captain

Alan Pulido ($19,200)

Pulido, the Mexican striker, has scored just one goal in this “MLS is Back” tournament. In the two games in March, he scored two goals for Sporting Kansas City. He plays as the central striker in an aggressive 4-3-3 formation, which makes him a highly-attractive target to feed crosses to, in and around the six-yard box. His price is a tad high but that’s also because he is more likely than most to score.

Other to consider: Johnny Russell ($16,800)

High-priced flex options

Johnny Russell ($11,200)

Russell plays on the right wing in a forward role in that 4-3-3 formation for Kansas City. He scored a goal in the previous game, a 2-0 win against Real Salt Lake. He is coming into this tournament on the back of a strong campaign in the 2019-20 season, in which he scored nine goals. Six of those nine goals came in the first half, indicative of how often he starts games for his team.

Khiry Shelton ($10,800)

Rounding off a strong front three for the favorites in this game is Shelton, who takes the left flank for Sporting Kansas City. Shelton has scored a goal in three of his previous four games. He didn’t score in the last fixture. He has also averaged 14.4 DKFP per game. Apart from a sub-par display against Salt Lake, he had fantasy performances of 20.4, 15.5 and 25.1 DKFP per game in the three games that preceded that.

Tim Melia ($8,800)

Melia has conceded three goals in three games in this MLS is Back tournament. While that is not low, it’s not too bad either, by the MLS’ high-scoring standards. He kept a clean sheet in the previous game against Salt Lake. Also, the MLS is witnessing a slight change in trend with some low-scoring games in this competition. That should continue in this one too.

Other to consider: Yordy Reyna ($8,400)

Value flex options

Roger Espinoza ($6,600)

Espinoza is a stacking target from this strong Kansas City team. He occupies the right wing in an attacking-minded midfield for his team. He was taken off in the previous game in the second half. He has averaged 8.8 DKFP per game, not too bad for a quality player that costs as little as $6,600.

Cristian Dajome ($6,400)

Dajome was the super substitute in the previous game, as the Vancouver Whitecaps withstood a stern test from the Chicago Fire before turning around the game in spectacular fashion in the second half. He might remain on the bench but considering his confidence after that goal, he could make for a compelling offensive target from Vancouver if he gets the start.

Other to consider: Theo Bair ($3,800).
