The Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals will play Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Twins lefty Rich Hill will return to make his season debut with his new team while righty Daniel Ponce de Leon will look to discover a route to baffling Twins batters. DraftKings will have Showdown DFS contests available for the matchup. We break down the ideal lineup strategy below, and you can play here.
Jorge Polanco, SS, Twins: $11,400
Polanco has been on fire to start the season and he gets to face a young righty in Ponce de Leon tonight. So far in his career, the switch hitter has hit righties for a .348 wOBA and hit a home run off righty Carlos Martinez last night.
Rich Hill, P, Twins: $9,400
We’re looking for strikeout pitchers at DraftKings and Hill, despite his age and numerous injuries, can get Ks. Since 2016 he has pitched 377 innings and struck out 517 batters. Will he leave after his first pitch with an injury? The chances are fairly good considering his history and age, but the guy can straight up pitch.
Matt Carpenter, 1B/3B, Cardinals: $6,600
Carpenter has shown a little life, hitting a two-run double three games ago and two hits last night. I’d rather start him against a righty, but he has hit lefties for a .335 wOBA in his career. Carpenter is too cheap if he’s seeing the ball well.
Luis Arraez, 2B, Twins: $6,400
Arraez could see his playing time reduced to keep his knee healthy, but as long as he’s playing, he makes for a decent play. The lefty Arraez hits right-handed pitching well, bitting a .378 wOBA and .401 OBP against them last season. He’s one of the safer floor plays each time he gets at bats against righties.
