Two lightweights trying to distinguish themselves in a loaded division get in the octagon this Saturday when Lando Vannata takes on Bobby Green during UFC Fight Night on ESPN live from Las Vegas.
Vannata is 11-4-2 with the rare 3-4-2 record in the UFC. He lands 4.72 strikes per minute, but only has two takedowns in his last four fights. At 28 years of age from Toms River, New Jersey, Groovy was 8-0 with seven stoppages on the independent circuit before joining the UFC in 2016.
Green is the veteran at age 33 with a 25-10-1 record in MMA, with a 6-5-1 mark in the UFC. He’s 2-2 in his last four fights, all unanimous decisions. “King” fights out of Redlands, California and the Pinnacle Fighting Systems stable, and after winning his first two fights in the promotion by stoppage, he’s yet to end a fight early as a winner since 2014.
