Odds and picks for July 30th in the WNBA

What might be the biggest game in The Wubble is tonight with the Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics facing off.

It’s Game 3 in Bradenton for half the teams in the WNBA tonight, including a matchup of the two favorites in the league with the Seattle Storm against the Washington Mystics.

The Storm appear to be back to their 2018 championship form, with Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart leading a team that is tops in the league defensively and second offensively. They’re scoring 25.1 points per 100 possessions more than their opponents so far, and appear to be the class of the league.

On the other side the Mystics lost a ton of their offensive firepower without league MVP Elena Delle Donne, free agent Tina Charles, and guard Kristi Toliver. But they’re 2-0 so far and looking impressive with former role player Myisha Hines-Allen making a huge leap. She averaged just 2.8 points per game on last year’s title-winning team, but has scored 43 points in her first two games this season.

Here are the odds and spreads for tonight’s WNBA action, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Seattle Storm -6.5 vs. Washington Mystics: Total 174.5
Chicago Sky -4.5 vs. Minnesota Lynx: Total 167.5
Connecticut Sun vs. Los Angeles Sparks -6.5: Total 167 *

* From various sportsbooks as DraftKings is unable to offer betting on Connecticut Sun games due to their partnership with Mohegan Gaming, which owns the team.

The pick: Connecticut Sun +6.5

The Sun have two scorers in DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas that can do enough to keep it close against an LA team that’s been generous enough defensively (102.4 rating) to allow bigs to score. The Sparks have some slightly inflated numbers so far from their flattening of the Phoenix Mercury (123.2 defensive rating) in the opener, but aren’t quite as efficient as the early numbers entail. Sparks win, but Sun cover.
