How to watch Canucks vs. Wild qualifying round series

The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild face off in the qualifying round for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. We break down what to watch and how to watch on TV and via live online stream.

Minnesota Wild v Vancouver Canucks

The NHL returns on Saturday, August 1st, with their qualifying round and round-robin play. The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a restart that will feature 24 teams competing for the Stanley Cup. The top four teams in each conference are competing in round-robin play to finalize the top four seeds. The next eight teams are competing in five-game seeded play to earn a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild will face off in Edmonton starting Sunday. The Canucks finished the abbreviated regular season with 78 points on a 36-27-6 record, which was good for the 7th seed. The Wild finished the abbreviated regular season with 77 points on a 35-27-7 record, which was good for the 10th seed.

The Canucks were relatively healthy when the league suspended play. They’ll get back reserve forward Michael Ferland. They lost their exhibition game 4-1 as Jakob Markstrom struggled in goal. The Wild are trying to sort out their goalie situation, with Alex Stalock and Devan Dubnyk splitting time in the team’s 3-2 exhibition loss to Colorado. Stalock started and gave up three goals on 17 shots, while Dubnyk stopped all 12 shots he faced.
