How the public is betting Hurricanes-Rangers qualifying round series

The Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers square off on Saturday, August 1st to open their five-game qualifying round series. The winner advances to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, while the loser is entered into the NHL Draft lottery.

The Hurricanes enter the series as -136 favorites against the +110 Rangers. It’s interesting considering Carolina lost all four matchups to New York during the regular season. That also makes it less surprising that the betting public is all over the Rangers in this series. DraftKings Sportsbook posted betting splits for this matchup, and 86 percent of the money bet on the series is on the Rangers.

Cariolina is getting Dougie Hamilton back from a fractured fibula, although his status is somewhat unclear heading into the weekend. The Hurricanes are -132 on the money line for Game 1, and -1.5 on the puck line. 92 percent of the Game 1 money line handle is on the Rangers, while 60 percent of the Game 1 puck line handle is on the Rangers +1.5

Game 1 of the series gets going at noon ET on Saturday. Here is the Rangers-Hurricanes series schedule.
