How the public is betting Canucks-Wild qualifying round series

The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild face off in the qualifying round for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. We break down how the public is betting the series and Game 1.

Minnesota Wild v Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild square off on Sunday, August 2nd to open their five-game qualifying round series. The winner advances to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, while the loser is entered into the NHL Draft lottery.

The Canucks enter the series as -121 favorites against the +100 Rangers. It’s the shortest line in the qualifying round at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Wild won two of the three games between these squads during the regular season, but the betting public is backing Vancouver. Currently, 63 percent of bets and 76 percent of handle on this series are in favor of the higher-seeded Canucks.

We have an intriguing split in betting on Game 1 of this series. The Canucks are -1.5 on the puck line and are getting 94 percent of all money to cover. However, on the money line, we have a split between bets and handle. 67 percent of total bets are on Vancouver (-112), but 65 percent of money bet is on the -105 Wild. This is also the shortest money line odds for the opener of any of the eight qualifying round series.

Game 1 of the series gets going at 10:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. Here is the Canucks-Wild series schedule.
