Brendon Todd has gone 64-65 in the first two rounds for a two-shot lead at -11 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis at TPC Southwind. But with Rickie Fowler just two shots behind, and Brooks Koepka, Byeong Hun An, and Chez Reavie all on -7, there’s plenty of space for a new leader to take over after Saturday’s round.
It looks like the course might be wet tomorrow, as there’s a 45% chance of rain, but no thunderstorms expected. The tee times are available here, with the first groups scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on both the #1 and #10 tee.
We make some picks for Round 3 below. Enter your lineups here.
Brooks Koepka ($9,000)
The defending champion in this event had a disastrous route out on Friday, picking up a pair of bogeys and a double (with a three-putt from inside four feet) and only a single birdie on the front nine. He got it somewhat straightened out with two birdies on the back, but this is still a course he can dominate. Yesterday was only his second round in the 70’s in his last 10 here. Don’t expect another one.
Dustin Johnson ($7,900)
His disasters at the 3M and The Memorial appear to be behind him, and he looks more like the golfer that won the Travelers Championship just five weeks ago. Now has 10 straight rounds below par at TPC Southland, and did it in DFS style today: an eagle and four birdies countered by three bogeys.
Phil Mickelson ($6,900)
It’s all superstars today here, but a wet course is perfect for the short game of Lefty, who was born for the DFS format that rewards birdies more than it harms bogeys. He’s got 10 birdies and seven bogeys in 36 holes here so far this weekend, and that jibes with his up-and-down success at TPC Southland, where he’s got two 2nd’s and a 3rd this decade, and until last year no finishes outside the Top 12. He can go low here and score DFS points while doing so.
