Ross Chastain has arguably been the most consistent driver in the Xfinity Series this year. The third ranked driver is still winless this season ahead of Saturday’s Pennzoil 150 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Does Chastain have a chance in this weekend’s road race? We’ll go over that here.

History at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Chastain has finished outside the top 20 in each of his two career races at Indianapolis. That doesn’t bode well for his performance this weekend, as he also hasn’t been a major threat in any recent road races.

2020 performance

Chastain has more top 10 finishes than any other Xfinity Series driver. He’s riding a streak of five straight top 10 performances and has only finished outside of 10th once in his last 10 races. He’s finished second in each of his last two races.

Daily fantasy advice

Chastain might have a ton of momentum, but I wouldn’t bet on him thriving in a road race. His average finishing position at Indianapolis since 2017 is 24th and he’s been below average in this unconventional format. It’s hard to justify spending more than $9,000 on him.
