Major League Baseball is planning on July 23rd serving as Opening Day for their shortened season. The World Series champion Washington Nationals will open their defense hosting the New York Yankees. First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. ET, and will be followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the San Francisco Giants with first pitch scheduled for 10:08 p.m.

Opening Day is a little over two weeks away, and there is plenty to figure out with regard to Covid-19 testing. However, if the season does happen on time, DraftKings Sportsbook has odds for the opener.

The Yankees are installed as -136 favorites, with the Nationals listed at +112. The Yankees are -1.5 on the run line, with a +133 price. The Nationals at +1.5 on the run line are getting a price of -162. The total is 7.5, with the over at +102 and the under at -124.

It’s no surprise a close, low-scoring game is where the odds lie. Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole are scheduled to start the opener. Both have been dominant for much of their career, although the shortened season raises some questions about inning limits. Both starters are comfortable with their progress, but it’s possible the early going will see extensive bullpen usage. As you consider what to bet on for this opener, keep the bullpens and innings limits in mind.
