Where the juice lies on NBA restart win totals

We go over each team’s expected win totals and betting odds ahead of the NBA’s restart.

The NBA is set to resume the 2019-20 season on July 31 in Orlando, Florida after going on a four-month hiatus. Each of the 22 teams involved have eight regular season games remaining to shape the playoff picture. DraftKings Sportsbook has over/unders on total wins set for each team, and it’s worth noting which overs and unders are getting the most juice.

The Milwaukee Bucks have the best record in the NBA and have their over/under for total wins set at a league-high 6.5. The odds on them hitting the over are +165. Their toughest games will be against the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and Toronto Raptors. They’ll play each team once and have essentially locked up the first seed. It’s hard to see them going all out to finish the regular season. Milwaukee hitting the under (-225) has a ton of juice, but that’s the most likely outcome.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics are all tied for second with over/unders for total wins set at 5.5. The Pelicans’ under has the most juice at -215 in this group, but it’s a pretty safe bet to make. They’ll start with games against the Utah Jazz and Clippers right off the bat. Both are top-notch defensive teams, and it’s unlikely like New Orleans will beat both. Even if the Pelicans split their first two games, the odds of them beating the Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic, and sweeping a two-game series against the Sacramento Kings is slim.

The Raptors and Brooklyn Nets are both at -115 whether they hit their overs or fall short.. Toronto appears poised to return at full strength and has an over/under set at 4.5 wins the Nets have been ravaged by injuries and have their mark set at 2.5.

The odds of Kings’ hitting the over on 3.5 wins is at a league-high +175, but their under has the most juice of any team at -240. The Washington Wizards, who will be without Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans, have the lowest expected win total at 1.5. Washington’s odds to hit the over are at +125 while its odds of losing at least seven or more games are -167.

Here’s the breakdown for all the teams.
