The WNBA is headed into its fourth set of games in the 2020 wubble season and is in its second weekend of the season. The 22-game season for each of the 12 teams provides us with a daily triple-header six days a week.
Saturday gets started with the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun facing off at 4 p.m. ET on NBA TV. That’s followed at 6 p.m. by the Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky tipping off on NBA TV. The evening wraps with the Los Angeles Sparks and Seattle Storm tipping off at 8 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
We’ll be keeping an eye on things this season, and want to give a big shout-out to Matt Ellentuck and his Here’s Basketball newsletter for providing some critical insight into the W.
Minnesota Lynx vs. Connecticut Sun
Time: 4 p.m.
Channel: NBA TV, FOX Sports North
Live stream: WNBA League Pass
Point spread: TBD
Money line odds: TBD
This marks the first rematch of the young season. A week ago, the Lynx beat the Sun 77-69 thanks to a 15-point edge in the fourth quarter. The Sun expect Theresa Plaisance back for this game, listing her as probable. She’s a solid three-point shooting big, but is also still working her way back into top condition. She’ll likely have a minutes limit.
Washington Mystics vs. Chicago Sky
Time: 6 p.m.
Channel: NBA TV, NBC Sports Washington
Live stream: WNBA League Pass
Point spread: Mystics -5
Money line odds: Mystics -220, Sky +170
The Mystics were expected to struggle to some degree with multiple opt-outs and the absence of MVP Elena Delle Donne. Instead, they have been the most impressive team through three games, now coming off an 18-point thumping of Seattle. They’ve got four players averaging in double digits and they’re making statements each night. Meanwhile, Chicago almost came into this game undefeated, but came up just short on a couple late close basket attempts in an 83-81 loss the Minnesota. They have five players scoring in double digits, led by Azura Stevens at 16.3 points per game.
Los Angeles Sparks vs. Seattle Storm
Time: 8 p.m.
Channel: CBS Sports Network
Live stream: CBS Sports Network, WNBA League Pass
Point spread: Storm -3
Money line odds: Sparks +120, Storm -152
LA beat Connecticut to bounce back from a tough loss against Chicago. They remain a favorite, and with four starters and a reserve scoring in double digits each night, there’s a reason they entered this restart near the top of the odds. Seattle opened as the favorite, but were stunned by Washington. The Mystics figured to give Seattle some trouble, but I don’t think anybody expected an 18-point Storm loss. The Storm are expected to be without Sue Bird as teams start resting key veterans.
